Drive Up & Take Away - DUTA Reservations
Welcome to our Drive Up & Take Away program, also known as our DUTA or box-reservation service. Each week we allow a limited number of supporters to reserve a produce box for pick-up at participating Borderlands P.O.W.W.O.W. locations.
A reservation simply means your up to 70lb produce rescue box will be prepared early in the morning, and will be available to you, for pick-up, until an hour prior to the location closing. While some of our host sites are able to expedite your experience, we do not promise that by reserving you will get expedited service. You are simply reserving a box.
DUTA Reservations are First Come, First Serve
This service is mainly for our core supporters; the people that truly love the work we do as Borderlands Produce Rescue. Many of our locations reach their DUTA limit prior to us even announcing what produce we may have available that Saturday. If you participate in our DUTA reservation program it is because you are more interested in making a donation to support our non-profit, than the specifics of what produce gift you will get that Saturday. If you want a chance to reserve a box our best recommendation is to place your order very early in the week.
Limited Number of DUTA Reservations
We only allow a very small number of DUTA reservations at most of our Borderlands' P.O.W.W.O.W. locations. For example, if we are distributing 250 produce boxes at a location we will typically only allow 25-50 box reservations. This means, we always have more produce boxes available to supporters that come out, in-person, on Saturday and make a CASH donation. If we reach a limit at a location, remember you can still participate by coming out early and getting in line.
Why is there a limit to the DUTA Reservations?
Like all of the rest of our programs, we are very dependent on volunteers to make all of our programs work. Volunteers typically arrive at 5:00am to begin preparing for Borderlands' P.O.W.W.O.W. redistribution events. We are unable to process more than a small number of reservations as volunteers also need to prepare boxes for all of the cash contributors that morning.
How Do I Pick-up my DUTA Reservation?
Typically, on Friday, we will send you a confirmation email for your reservation, along with any specific instructions for the particular location you are picking up from. Once you arrive to the location look for any signage, or a volunteer giving directions just in case the location has a DUTA line. You will be asked your name (the name the order is under) and you will be given your reserved box.
